The 2019 CCM Ribcor skates are now available, so Pure Hockey is giving you all the information you’ll need to make your purchase. Whether you’re a player who skates once a month or 4 to 5-plus times per week, CCM offers the right pair of skates for you, with plenty of technologies and performance benefits to take your game to the next level.
The Ribcor line is CCM’s high-profile fit, best suited for those with high-volume foot dimensions. But in the 2019 line, especially in the high-end 8oK and 78K models, CCM uses innovative technologies to create its most flexible skates yet, providing a contoured and snug fit for all players. If you’re unsure about which skate line fits your foot best, or you’re looking for an accurate measurement and assessment, visit your local Pure Hockey store.
CCM Ribcor 80K Skates
The new CCM Ribcor 80K hockey skates offer a refined design and a unique combination of fit, comfort, and performance. To create this distinct fit profile, CCM includes its Flexframe technology, developed based on industry-leading biomechanics research conducted with NHL players. This innovation, partnered with the 3D lasted composite quarter package, provides excellent forward flexion and lateral stability to help generate more power with every stride.
Attached to this advanced boot is the new Speedblade XS holder. This easy-to-use system, with a positive-lock mechanism, allows you to efficiently switch out a damaged or broken blade. Simply roll the BladeLock dial until you feel resistance, and then pull the damaged blade out of the holder. Replace your runner and turn back the dial to fully secure the new blade. Once the blade is locked in, you’re ready to get back on the ice without missing a shift. But remember, this system is effective only if you have an extra pair of skate runners in your hockey bag. Almost every player brings an extra stick to games and practices, knowing his or her go-to option might break on any given shot. And while a broken stick may be more common than a broken runner, why take the chance with your skates? If you have that extra pair of skate blades ready to go, CCM’s Speedblade XS holder will make the switch quick and easy.
The top-of-the-line Ribcor 80K skates also include ADPT memory foam pads for unequalled comfort around your ankles; the TotalDri Pro liner with moisture-wicking properties to keep your feet dry and skates light; and the CCM Orthomove footbed with customized arch support inserts for an enhanced fit and personalized feel. With these technologies and more, the 80K model is a great option for the elite player who skates 4 to 5-plus times per week, or any player who is looking for excellent comfort and top-level performance benefits.
CCM Ribcor 78K Skates
This year’s CCM Ribcor 78K skates offer high-end features and technologies at a great value. Like the 80K model, this skate includes Flexframe technology and a 3D lasted composite quarter package to give you the variable stiffness and enhanced fit you’re looking for.
Other top-of-the-line technologies in the Ribcor 78K include ADPT memory foam padding which wraps anatomically around your ankles for a personalized feel; Smooth Contour Pro comfort pads at the collar of the boot for enhanced comfort; and the Speedblade XS holder to give you that easy-to-use blade exchange system, while also maximizing energy transfer from boot to blade for improved striding.
The 78K features CCM’s anatomical response footbed for great comfort and support. But if you want to give this model a boost, look into purchasing the CCM Orthomove footbed, the same found in the 80K model, to give you extra comfort and the customized feel you’ll get from choosing the arch inserts that fit your foot best.
With many comparable features to the top-end Ribcor skate, the 78K model proves to be a great value. These skates are an intriguing option for the player who skates 3 to 4-plus times per week and needs high-end performance, or any player who wants high-level skates without paying top dollar.
CCM Ribcor 76K Skates
The Ribcor 76K ice hockey skates offer good comfort and performance, and even include some top-level features to enhance the benefits and overall value of this model. These technologies include the Smooth Contour Pro comfort pads, the ADPT memory foam ankle pads, and the Speedblade XS holder.
While the 76K doesn’t include the flexible fit feature of the higher end models, it still comes with CCM’s Metaframe technology with Rocketframe composite material for a durable boot and structural stiffness to help your skating. The Ribcor 76K also includes the CCM anatomical response footbed, but again, we recommend looking into the Orthomove footbed to take the fit and feel of this skate to the next level.
The CCM Ribcor 76K skates are built for the recreational players who skate 1 to 3 times per week but still need good comfort and a solid fit to help their on-ice performance. But if you’re a player who appreciates the best technologies and wants a pair of skates that will help advance your game, it may be a good idea to consider a higher end model like the 80K or 78K.
CCM Ribcor 74K Skates
The new CCM Ribcor 74K skates sit at the lowest price point in the 2019 Ribcor line, but still boast good features for the new-to-hockey or casual player. Some of these technologies include an injected quarter package with synthetic composite material for a durable and relatively stiff boot; a brushed microfiber liner with Durazone abrasion protection for good comfort and resistance to wear and tear; and a 7mm felt tongue with embossed lace-bite technology for added protection.
Below the boot, the 74K features the Speedblade 4.0 holder. While this holder does not include the new dial system found on the Speedblade XS, it still secures your blade and offers an increased attack angle for greater striding and cornering. CCM also includes its standard footbed, so it’d be a good idea to check out the Orthomove footbed for added comfort and an enhanced fit.
If you’re just starting out in the game of hockey or you don’t play as much as you used to, you can still purchase a pair of skates used in the NHL or other high-level leagues. If you want excellent comfort, fit, and performance features to maximize your skating experience, the Ribcor 80K and 78K are great options, regardless of your playing level. But if you’re looking for an affordable option designed for the player who skates a couple times per month or less, the Ribcor 74K provides plenty of features and technologies to get you on the ice so you can develop your skills.
The 2019 Ribcor skate line includes high-quality models for every level of player. So if you want a high-end skate for ultimate performance, or an affordable option with good comfort to keep you on the ice, CCM has you covered.
