The 2019 Bauer Vapor skates are scheduled for release on June 28, so Pure Hockey is giving you all the information you’ll need to make your purchase. Building on its popular design and high-performing construction, Bauer continues to enhance the Vapor line with new technologies and features, providing every player—from those who skate once a month to those on the ice almost every day—a high-quality pair of skates.
The Vapor line is Bauer’s low-profile fit, ideal for players with low-volume foot dimensions. If you’re unsure which skate line fits your foot best, or you’re looking for an accurate measurement and assessment, visit your local Pure Hockey store.
Bauer Vapor 2X Pro Skates
The new Bauer Vapor 2X Pro skates are built for quickness, offering players a lightweight, comfortable, and flexible feel with the low-volume design. This fit is enhanced with Bauer’s DYNAFLEX system, providing elite players premium technologies to help take their skills to the next level.
The first technology included in this high-performing system is the asymmetrical toe cap. This low-volume toe cap helps to improve the overall fit of the skate, allowing it to better connect to the foot while offering an anatomical feel. This new toe cap also helps to improve your push-off with each stride. The 2X Pro is constructed with an Integrated Injected Facing which provides an enhanced anatomical wrap for more control.
For comfort and protection, the Vapor 2X features AERO FOAM PRO for the highest level of thermoformability, giving you a personalized fit; the LOCK-FIT PRO liner to help secure your foot in the boot and prevent sliding for increased energy transfer; and the RECOIL PRO tongue for more responsiveness, flexibility, control, and comfort.
Bauer also includes the top-of-the-line Tuuk Lightspeed EDGE holder and Tuuk LS5 runner on the Vapor 2X Pro. The LS5 provides a long-lasting edge and excellent durability, while the innovative holder system offers a trigger mechanism allowing you to easily replace a damaged or broken blade. To use this spring-loaded system, simply pull the trigger to unlock the blade, them remove it with your hand (using a towel as a buffer), pliers, or the Bauer-provided tool. Insert your new blade until it clicks into place, and you’ll be back on the ice in no time.
With these technologies and more, the Vapor 2X Pro is designed for the players who skate four to five-plus times per week, or any player looking for excellent comfort and top-level performance benefits.
Bauer Vapor 2X Skates
This year’s Bauer Vapor 2X skates are a great option for the high-level player looking for top-end performance and comfort at a lower price than the 2X Pro. The 2X model features Bauer’s ACCELFLEX system, offering additional flex, performance, and high-end value.
The ACCELFLEX system includes some elite technologies used in the 2X Pro’s DYNAFLEX system, including the asymmetrical toe cap and the Tuuk Lightspeed EDGE holder. The two systems also feature a 3-D lasted Curv composite quarter package with Comfort Edge padding, enhancing lateral support and thermoformability while providing a lightweight and extremely comfortable feel.
Other technologies in the Vapor 2X system include Bauer’s RECOIL tongue for added flexibility, helping to enhance your skating stride; AERO FOAM+ padding in the ankle area for great comfort and an improved fit; and the LOCK-FIT liner and LOCK-FIT footbed to help secure your foot in the boot for increased performance.
As another premium, low-volume skate, the Bauer Vapor 2X has all the technologies you’ll need to enhance your skating and overall performance on the ice. This model is built for the player who skates three to four-plus times per week, but like the 2X Pro, this option can benefit any player at any level who is looking for a high-quality skate at a great value.
Bauer Vapor X2.9 Skates
The 2019 Bauer Vapor X2.9 hockey skates are designed for the player who skates two to three-plus times per week and wants a good balance of fit, performance, and comfort in a low-volume model. And Bauer enhances the low-profile fit with its PERFORMFLEX system, offering step-in comfort and premium performance at a great value.
The PERFORMFLEX system includes a couple of top technologies to give this mid-level skate some added performance benefits. The X2.9 features the TUUK Lightspeed EDGE holder for improved striding and an easy-to-use blade replacement system; and Comfort Edge padding in the quarter package for a lightweight and comfortable feel. The quarter construction also includes 3D lasted tech mesh material which provides good support and thermoformability to enhance the fit of the skate, helping to improve overall performance.
Inside the Vapor X2.9 skates, Bauer uses its Hydrophobic Microfiber liner, AERO FOAM ankle pads, and Form Fit+ footbed. These technologies combine to offer solid comfort while helping to keep your foot locked into the boot so you can maximize energy with every stride.
Bauer Vapor X2.7 Skates
The new Bauer Vapor X2.7 hockey skates boast some good technologies and benefits for this price point. Bauer uses its COMFORTFLEX system to enhance the low-profile fit, and to provide cost-conscious players the features they need to perform well on the ice.
The COMFORTFLEX system is built to deliver step-in comfort, additional flex, and increased visual richness so players can look and feel their best when they hit the ice. To achieve these benefits in the Vapor X2.7, Bauer includes a one-piece 3D polycarb quarter package for increased flexibility; a microfiber liner for a soft and secure feel; memory foam padding for good support and comfort; and a 40-oz. felt tongue with metatarsal guards for additional flex and protection.
The X2.7 also features the TUUK Lightspeed EDGE holder, giving this low-price model a top-of-the-line feature. Players can easily swap out a broken blade and tightly secure the new steel into the holder for improved striding and energy transfer.
The Vapor X2.7 is designed for the competitive weekly player, but those who skate at this level are encouraged to upgrade to a higher-end model if they wish to experience the excellent performance benefits of a skate like the Vapor 2X Pro or 2X.
Bauer Vapor X2.5 Skates
This year’s Bauer Vapor X2.5 hockey skates offer good comfort for the new-to-hockey player or occasional skater who likes to hit the pond during the winter or play some pick-up games every so often.
Unlike the rest of the models in the 2019 Vapor line, the X2.5 doesn’t include a specific system to enhance performance. Rather, this low-end skate includes trusted Bauer technologies to ensure you have a fun and comfortable experience when you’re on the ice.
Features include a one-piece 3D polycarb quarter package, an upgrade from the previous generation, which offers a better fit and more comfort in the ankle and heel; the TPR outsole for added flexibility when skating; memory foam ankle pads for added comfort inside the boot; and a 30-oz. felt tongue with metatarsal guard for added flex and protection. The Vapor X2.5 also features the TUUK Lightspeed Pro II holder and TUUK stainless steel runner.
The 2019 Vapor skate line includes well-constructed, comfortable options for players who fit best in low-volume skates. While all players are encouraged to try a high-end model, Bauer offers many options at a variety of price points to fit the needs of anyone who steps onto the ice, regardless of skill level or frequency of play.
